Cutia Therapeutics: CU-40101 New Drug For Hair Loss 2022

A new drug aimed at the treatment of androgenetic alopecia is entering a phase 1 clinical trial imminently as of August 2022.

CU-40101 Phase 1 Clinical Trial

Cutia Therapeutics is the latest biotechnology company to emerge from behind the scenes and enter the global race for new androgenetic alopecia therapies. Its candidate molecule CU-40101 is slated to begin a phase 1 trial at the Zhejiang University Hospital sometime around August 2022, according to its clinical trial listing. Thephase 1 trialis designed to assess the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of CU-40101, as most phase 1 trials do. Trial participants will include males age 18-55 years old who are graded levels 3 – 7 on the Norwood scale. The mechanism of action of this drug is currently unknown, as Cutia Therapeutics currently does not have a website up. CU-40101 is described as a “liniment” on the trial listing, which may sound odd to those who are familiar with horse liniment, however, upon further review the technical definition of a liniment is simply a “liquid or lotion.” We can then understand that CU-40101 is simply a topical drug solution.

There is limited information known about Cutia Therapeutics at this time. Adocumenton the internet describes Cutia as “an R&D based start-up company mainly focusing on dermatology and aesthetics” with headquarters in Shanghai, China. It is also implied that Cutia is a subsidiary of the colossalWuXi Apptec中国的制药公司。除了铜- 40101、the company is also conducting aphase 3 trialfor a spray-version finasteride in China. Beginning at a phase 1 trial for safety would indicate that CU-40101 is a new chemical entity.

China Leading The Way On AGA

When we take a closer look at the androgenetic alopecia therapeutics field, there is a clear geographic frontrunner when it comes to applied innovation and drug development – China. Some of the most clinically advanced and compelling therapies are currently being developed by Chinese companies. Today, we’ve announced the newcomer Cutia Therapeutics, we also know the potential powerhouseKintor Pharmaceuticalwhich has two drugs and multiple lines of clinical trials in development for both male and female pattern hair loss. Then there is the quiet, but formidable, contender Technoderma Medicines which has already progressed its drug into aphase 1btrial in the US. Finally, we have the highly acclaimed (mostly due to previous data from a monkey study)Hope Medicine, who should be kicking off important clinical trials globally any day now.

从所有这些药物的候选人仍然会什么l remains to be seen, but I believe it’s clear that the initiative which Chinese biotech has taken by getting these drugs into clinical trials is both admirable and necessary for progress. It appears that China understands the importance of working to solve an unmet medical need which can majorly impact quality of life; the USA may want to emulate that strategy.

  1. Thanks for reading.

And just like that a new playerin clinical trialsenters the game. The number of new companies popping up continues to impress me. TheUltimate Guide to Hair Regenerationarticle will be updated in the near future to reflect this new clinical player.

    • Separate question but how is that roll on product your promoted earlier this year treating you ? concerned it might be adding to my problem

      • not, I’m still using it basically everyday and liking it.

  2. I can’t understand why research on skin problems are underfunded in US. Dermatology& aesthetics industry is rapidly growing especially after pandemics. Especially hair loss is an important issue in dermatology. An effective therapy will make billions of dollars every year for sure. By the way can I ask you is there any promising research or upcoming drug for hair growth on scar tissue?

    • Futurist, I completely agree with you. With a prize of billion dollar revenue like you said, shouldn’t there be a venture group, biotech co, entrepreneur who is smart enough to put several million dollars into an expertly-designed research project? If there is anyone that can make that happen and wants to discuss further feel free to get in touch with me through the世界杯2022入围名单 page.

    • 在未来20年的游戏,我问the same question. I gave up on any cure or any treatment that will do much for aga. My opinion. It is nice to see other new players in the game to try to tackle this unfair mpb. Maybe a miracle will happen and some new fda drug comes out that can grow back tons of hair….a miracle will need to happen though with all the politics and red tape that goes behind the scenes in the hair loss industry…..

On another note….I’m looking into fue for my hairline. Anyone got a good result with a good doctor they recommend? I got very coarse dark hair so I won’t need many grafts which is a plus….I’m researching konior, rahal….

      • I’m a nw2.5…stable hair loss just hairline has thinning that’s creeping up now which bothers me.

      • Mjones—if you’re willing to travel: Dr. Eberson in the Netherlands is really great. I did a small 1300 graft fue with him and he is especially good at small operations. He’s an honest doctor who does the incisions himself. He doesn’t do a lot of marketing and only does 1 surgery per day. I’m still very satisfied with the result 2 years later.

      • I know Mjones you have been in the game for a while like myself and you used to be bullish on follica, you named konior who is legendary but also Hasson is legendary for hairline. Personally I think if anyone gets to a 4 or 5 and has great donor area Dr. Zarev is as close to a cure as you will come. Obviously we are all different.

  3. Looks like we might actually get something new in the next 5 years this time for real lol. It’s kinda annoying that there is no medicines that were specifically made for hairloss.

Both min and fin were discovered by accident and hair regrowth is just a side effect.

  4. I don’t want to brag or anything lol but what did I say about verteporfin? “It’s going to change this industry”. Hope to see more positive stuff about it in the near future.

  5. Recently mailed to manebiotech about their device release ?surprisingly i got a mail from manebiotech team member his name is carlos chacon ,saying that device design has been finalized and some work to be done and they might release the device in early 2023.

  6. Check their manebiotech website u will get an idea about their device.

  7. It says it will be about stem cells but i couldn’t see anything about device

    • Nothing new since the last I heard, just that options are still being explored to do the study in Japan.

  8. Very nice to see humans all over the world working towards common goals. Science innovation and competition truly bring us together. Great news and thanks again admin

  9. Great news from manebiotech.check your mails folks if u have subscribed to their newsletter .

    • Newsletter mane biotech

      • I don’t know if I can really trust that , Nobody. It sounds very vague / non clinical in nature . What does 6 x more effective and 2 x faster even mean? Shaft elongation? Neogenesis? Hair diameter!

All of these parameters will have varying cosmetic outcomes. I’m looking forward to hearing the news either way

      • 你好,你美丽,精彩的人!我爱你for helping or curing/growing hair back. My so-sad story defies any & all doctors of every profession & (2) medical centers in my state. So sad. My once thick, full locks have turned against me for (4) yrs now. After begging & begging (3) dermatologists for Finasteride for 4 yrs, I finally got a new one to prescribe it, a month ago. Maybe too late? Kindly think of me – add me as a guinea pig or any helper in furtherance of androgenic alopecia. It’s so defeminizing. Thank you in advance & please keep me at the top of your lists for any new info/research. Hugs & love ♡♡

  10. I can’t seem to find much about Mane anywhere. Their mechanism of action/approach that is. Everything I can find seems to be so vague. Can someone please link me?

    • So first time posting here, normally I’m just a silent reader, but did a little digging since it’s a german startup, & I speak the language:

From what I figured from various german articles it’s a stemcell-based approach. Not in the sense of cloning them but rather reactivating the stem cells. Since the company resides in Cologne and one of the founders worked at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, I found this paperhttps://portal.uni-koeln.de/universitaet/aktuell/presseinformationen/detail/haarausfall-kann-verhindert-werden-neuer-mechanismus-entdeckt-der-die-langlebigkeit-von-stammzellen-steuert(not none of the founders are mentions as authors of it though) which mentions the so-called “Rictor protein” & it’s role for stem cell regeneration (sounds very similar to the SCUBE approach)… Of course, I don’t know if that’s really the approach Mane is taking but seems likely… The German BWMK (ministry for economy & climate) has a lot of faith in them though it seems since they invested a larger amount of money in them last year apparently:https://www.bmwk.de/Redaktion/DE/INVEST-DB/Mane_Biotech.html. Personally, I also caught wind of some people who have been (or are) taking part in some of their trials in german hair loss forums last year but not much could be learned there since all under NDA

      So let’s wait & see

  11. I’ve been following Mane for a little while and still don’t know what to make of them. They make some very bold claims. I think the admin is aware of who they are but they aren’t listed in any pipeline or anything so I don’t know how much stock he puts in them. Care to weigh in, FT?

    • L. Ron Hoyabembe, I have connected with Mane in the past and was hoping to learn more about their technology. Basically nothing was shared. Keeping their IP safeguarded was noted as a reason. I respect their scientist founder, and I agree that their claims about efficacy are very high and hard to imagine.

      • I watch and wait for ManeBiotech with optimistic skepticism (if that’s a thing). We’ve seen plenty of treatments released with respected founders/clinicians that make bold claims which essentially do nothing for the vast majority of hair loss sufferers. Will this be a “wild card” break through treatment or another laser cap, PRP type? I might give it a go as an adjunct treatment to what I’m already doing if they show some assemblance of effectiveness and it doesn’t break the bank with an unreasonable price.

  12. Since mane biotech are not the first to work with this technology, it is a pity that they do not share the results with the admin. I still think you should classify it with the other positive news and wait to see if results are shown over the course of the year.

  13. Woke up to read an email from MaineBiotech stating that their new product is launching early 2023 and is 6X more effective than finasteride and 2X faster. I believe you covered these guys in the past Admin. Could this be the game changer we have been waiting for. I know not to get too excited but so many great advancements are happening.

    • No research papers, no patents, no trial registrations, no transparency from the company regarding the technology…

This all sounds very sketchy to me.

ManeBiotech occurs very strange to me.

        • Ok thanks I didn’t find that before. I will read it later.

VC-financed is not really a plus, VC puts many eggs in a basket in the hope that one will become a chicken (or some other animal). VC only means high-risk.

There’s a huge list of prolific scientists who failed terribly with their product.

I want to believe, really, but I demand proof. And so should everybody else who suffers from hairloss, we‘ve been let down so many times. I‘ve had enough false promises.

        • Focusing on things that failed is not germane as Mane B seems assured to come to market. It’s more so about treatments that come to market with an esteemed team behind them that do something, however in reality it’s little to nothing in terms of results for the majority of hair loss sufferers. Besides laser caps, PRP there is also Trinov, Kelopesia/ReBoost, The Ostrich egg stuff, maybe Revivv (jury still out?). I appreciate the Admin for reporting everything Hair loss cure related in an unbiased manner, all this stuff is news after all . Hopefully MaineBiotech doesn’t lay an egg (pun intended).

  14. Mane definitely seems like a hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

  15. As already mentioned. The German government supported this project.
I am pretty sure that Mane has provided some convincing results to the public servants that make those financial support decisions.

    Fingers crossed

    • Just because something is government-backed doesn’t guarantee anything at all.

Federal institutions often lack of expertise and knowledge to even be able to evaluate the scientific fundament of a new product.

Furthermore it‘s often political – somebody knows somebody who has access to funds etc.

We as an educated community have to start and call out companies which drag on for years only in order to gain funds for further „research“, false claims and fraudulent behavior.

I am NOT saying ManeBiotech is a scam, but they need to proof their claims. Until then they have no right for our trust.

  16. I give Mane 20% chance of success right now since there are no fda trials and no real before after pics. It’s just a late night infomercial 100% money back guarantee ad lol. I am hopeful for the fact that it’s German and that for the past 20 years we have heard of all these claims and maybe one of these companies actually delivers….you never know lol.

Yoda- How are those new topicsls you are using that I asked about a few months ago. Phyto something I think it was called? Any success?

    • MJ, I’m sure I responded to you but it must’ve gotten lost in that specific thread. Formula 82D in the AM and Phytosol Spironolactone, Minox and Lantaprost is working well. I still use one .5mg of oral dut a week and 10mg (most shouldn’t take that high of a dose) of oral minox everyday. The oral minox was a game changer, the topicals probably help somewhat with the growth but more so with the anti-androgenic properties. Of course nothing short of a transplant will bring us all the way back but I’m reasonably happy where I’m at given where I would be at.

  17. I’m not too familiar with Mane Biotech, someone said that they use electrodes in the treatment, which means they use electrical impulses, they are technically different from the laser method.
I don’t know if the laser method was ever in the approval process from the FDA, why would the method from Mane.
The method of treatment with electrical impulses has been used for many years in medicine and physiatry.

  18. 我一直在这个公司一段时间后,they never intended to go stock market route grab all the money and go burst as usual We all knew that companies doing research for the sake of the funds and never deliver Mane Biotech had no funding issues so-far everything going as they planned I hope this is what we have been waiting for

  19. Never trust anybody!

But they have received additional cash. Thus a higher chance surviving financially. Its a nightmare scenario for us if a good product can’t be put on the market due to lack of funds. I am pretty sure it happened before.

There is a possibility that the funds were approved after consulting experts that work for respected institutions.

But yes, there is also a chance of incompetent public servants that eg wanted to please the person at the top of the ministry. But I doubt it.

That they do not disclose any details is ok. When they release their product then its time to back up their claims.

  20. I’m highly skeptical of Mane Biotech’s new product. The prototype of their device was designed and produced by an engineer who later left the company. That engineer was also the figure who did a lot of the innitial pitching of the product for investors.

No way he would have left the company if he saw potential in what they were doing. With a change to seriously tap into multi billion dollar industry just around the corner, no co-founder of a company would leave his place and find a day job elsewhere.

我也认为接收管理ment funding is not a very good indicator for whether the company is legit or not. When government funds companies, no singular person has to account for the losses. It would be a much better indicator of their status of they got some private investors to invest some serious money into their oroject.

I seriously hope I’m wrong about this subject, but I wouldn’t get too excited yet. There is virtually nothing but some very bold and unbacked statements by a small startup that we received so far. Those of us who have been in this game for a longer time now know that this is nothing new.

    • YoYo, thanks. Was there anything that prompted you to reshare the Allergan news from 2019?

      • Well that was silly of me lol, this article had come up when I filtered the news to this week. Sorry about that.

        • No worries, thank you for your positive contributions.

    • Thanks for the link. A lot of personal and business blabla.

The key quote is this one:

„Zuerst stoppt der Haarausfall, und dann wachsen die Haare mit der Zeit wieder nach. Und wir wissen, dass es funktioniert!“

Which means: „First the hairloss stops, and after some time the regrowth will start. And we know that it works!“

That’s a big statement. We will see if he can prove it.

  21. Yes I also catched that. One would hope that a PhD formerly employed at Max Planck institute would have more integrity when making these kinds of statements than all these snake oil salesmen that have been popping up lately like mushroons in the rain.

Does anyone remember what kind of statements were made about LLLT when it first emerged?
